Since 2014, the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique (CDC) – La Termitière has organized dance and music workshops in the Malian refugee camps in Burkina Faso. In 2017, a seminar gathering choreographs in refugee camps lead to implement a similar project in several African countries; Hors Limites is born from this experience. Its aim is to reinforce the action of the CDC and its partner, the Association NEMA, to be able to support the processes of resilience of population living in extreme conditions. Hors Limites focuses on the dance as a mean of social mediation and social inclusion. Through dance and music workshops in refugee camps in Burkina Faso and Niger, the projects seeks to reduce intra-community violence, to create a space for exchange and discovery, and to promote the creativity of people living in refugee camps.
