Main applicant: Association Nu Dagbé
Partners: Fondation Camaro
Project duration: January 2019 – May 2020
Project code: 01-01065
The main applicant of this project, the Association Nu Dagbé, accompanies children from the streets and teaches them circus arts while giving them different kinds of supports and acting as a kind of family. The goal of this project is to create a tour of this circus, which will also lead to emancipation for the children who have experienced situations of exploitation or indignity and choose an artistic way to fulfil themselves and stay free. Using elements from traditional ceremonies and events in West Africa, the project aims to highlight components close to circus practice and to create a new kind of artistic expression by renewing the circus arts.
The project will be carried out in partnership with the organization Fondation Camaro, a public foundation based in Berlin, Germany, that works to promote plastic art and supports interdisciplinary artistic and cultural initiatives. The project will last 15 months, starting in January 2019 and finishing in May 2020.
