Narratives from Zimbabwe is a project that arises from the strong culture of oral history from Zimbabwean families and clan histories to Zimbabwe’s war of liberation. The main goal of this project is to capture historical narrative and make it available as inspiration to creative practitioners to produce cultural artefacts (books, films, plays, video games). The initiative is designed to encourage a culture of recording these narratives for the future with mechanisms for other organizations and society at large to contribute to populating the resource developed during the project.
Zimbabwe International Film & Festival Trust is a not-for-profit organization established in 2001 dedicated to the discovery and development of filmmakers, artists, and audiences; thereby contributing to a vibrant, socially and politically relevant, African story-telling through film-making. This project is a partnership between Zimbabwe International Film & Festival Trust, Zimbabwe Heritage Trust and I’Themba Academy. The three applicant organizations are based in Zimbabwe.
