Beyond caring is a project of cultural cooperation aiming to raise awareness on domestic workers’ rights and fostering social cohesion and intercultural dialogue in and between Rwanda and DRC. This will be done through the production of theatrical works (2 creations) and their diffusion (30 representations) in the two countries aiming at reaching a minimum of 1250 people. It is rooted in the observation of domestic workers’ living and working conditions, the roles they play in the society and the challenges they face both in Rwanda and in DRC.
The coordinator of the project is ISHYO, a non-governmental organization initiated in 2007 by eight Rwandan women, which operates as a platform for professional artists, cultural experts, creative entrepreneurs and art lovers with the main objective of making culture available for everyone. ISHYO is developing the project in partnership with RENAITRE GRANDS LACS/HAFENIS Handicapped Women and Children in Survival Initiatives, a Congolese NGO whose main mission is the sustainable development and strengthening of survival mechanisms in various sectors of vulnerable people.
