The OpenMic Project will be an 18-month project based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Isingiro District in Southwestern Uganda. The project seeks to provide young people from diverse cultural backgrounds the skills and platforms to organize their own spoken word events in their communities. The young people involved in the project will have the opportunity to attend workshops on creative writing, performance poetry, leadership and events management, and afterwards, they will host their own OpenMic events in public spaces, with engagement from other cultural organizations and groups. The project also foresees the information campaign on sexual and reproductive health that will be provided by Public Health Ambassadors Uganda.
